A quiet trading day in Wall Street but the Bloomberg reported this morning that options activity within the US stock market is showing no signs of abating. Over the last 20 days, a record average of around 28 million call contracts have been traded each day, almost the triple volume of the last few years, the volume of equity exchanged everyday is also reaching record levels. Breadth closed almost even : 2001 stocks advanced compared to 2154 that settled down. The ten day oscillator based on the advance/decline line is overbought. The weekly survey among professional active portfolio managers points out to a renewed bullish attitude, the index reached a record. As mentionned this morning by a US equity strategist: «we are seeing so many signs of speculation»…
