As expected, the S&P 500 encountered a resistance in the vicinity of the 3000 area and closed slightly below. Systematic models are all pointing up and the S&P 500 may well challenge the next resistance around 3020-3035. Breadth closed on a strong note : 2473 stocks advanced compared to 1318 that settled down. Trading activity in the option market was fairly neutral.
